Are the questions on the actual test similar to those found in the online study manuals though the Texes/Excet website? Are the question on the online study manuals a waste of time? My wife is trying to study for the Generalist 4-8 (#111)exam for a December test. Why is it so difficult to find information for this? Also, I do not want to have to pay a lot of money for test materials from website.

| Well I am studying for ther same test and I use the study guide provided. The questions are similar and some are the same but she shouldn't worry about specifics. The answers stick out like a sore thumb. They will always be the answer that fits into the context of the perfect world. In other , the answer that would require unlimited resources, money and time as well as an administrator that wants to spend all of that time, money. We call it the "bubble" . What I do for these tests is I make a first run through the manual and score myself noting which competencies I missed the most questions in. I then study those competencies and pay attention to the language they are looking for in each. One of the reasons you don't see much about it is because the tests are stricly controlled and participants sign a non-disclosure statement. Many years a, in the world of ham radio, t was a guy who asked people to send in all of the test questions and answers they could remember to the ham radio exams. He then made a mint publishing "cheat sheets". A teacher who t caught disclosing test material could face some pretty stiff consequences. That being said I still think if someone wanted to they could publish such a book but I am not sure t would be a great market for it. As to paying for test materials, don't. Everything you need is free on the SBEC website. Tell her od luck on the 10th, if she is in Austin I will see her t |
