ACE Project on Leadership and Institutional Transformation
September, 1996 Update
This past Spring, many of you responded to our survey regarding issues related to our theme, "Revitalizing Faculty, Administration and Staff: Enhancing Student Success." After sorting through the responses, we found the following seven major issues:
- Using technology to enhance teaching effectiveness and student success
- Developing new avenues for professional development and training
- Exploring more effective ways to facilitate effective communication
- Reinforcing the primacy of the teaching mission
- Investigating admissions standards with respect to regional mission, faculty perceptions, comparisons with similar comprehensive universities, and potential impact on student enrollment
- Exploring faculty expectations for student achievement
- Articulating a university commitment to improving faculty and staff rewards
A major charge of the ACE Committee is to address the issues you have identified. Some of these issues relate to general issues in higher education, while others more specifically relate to SFA. As a first step in addressing the more global issues, a speaker series has been planned. The following three speakers are experts in issues of higher education. Please try to attend as many of the presentations as possible. If appropriate, bring your classes. More information will be made available in the very near future.
