RACQUET SPORTS

GAMES TO BE TAUGHT:

1. Tennis

2. Badminton

3. Pickleball

SKILL ORIENTATION:

1. Forehand

2. Backhand

3. Service

4. Overhead Shots

5. Lob and Drop Shots

6. Volleys (where appropriate)

OBJECTIVE:

To disseminate information pertinent to the development of fundamental racquet sport skills, i.e., tennis, badminton, pickleball. Further, it provides guidance relative to playing strategies that should compliment specific skill development.

CLASS ATTENDANCE:

Regular and punctual attendance is expected at all classes. For every unexcused absence, one (1%) percentage point will be deducted from your final grade average. Students are responsible for providing to the instructor, satisfactory documentation for an excused absence. It is university policy to excuse students from attendance for certain reasons. Among these are absences related to health, family emergencies, and student participation in certain university-sponsored events. Students with acceptable excuses will be permitted to make up work for absences to a maximum of three weeks in the semester, when the nature of the work permits.

INSURANCE:

You should be advised that the university does not cover your medical needs. If you do not have insurance coverage, you should seek coverage from the private sector or seek information from the S.F.A. Health Center.

EVALUATION:

Examinations, tournaments and any other written assignment will constitute data from which your final grade will be derived.

NOTE: Your final percentage evaluation will reflect the loss of one (1%) percentage point for each unexcused absence.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

This course is designed to meet teacher certification requirements. It is expected that a certified teacher have some basic skills in racquet sport activities.
